Real Mom Story: How My Allergic 6-Year-Old Found His Growth Path

Growth in Numbers

👦🏻Liam: Grew 3.5 cm (1.4") in 3 months, moving up 7 percentile points (from the 4th to the 11th percentile).

A Mom's Perspective

They say kids with allergies are often smaller than their peers—and that was definitely true for my son. At 6 years old, Liam was active and bright, but way behind on the growth chart. He was hovering around the 4th percentile, and his projected adult height came out to just 63 inches (160 cm). His dad is 5'9" (175 cm), and I’m 5'4" (163 cm)—we never expected a towering basketball player, but still. We hoped for at least average. Not this.

As his mom, I felt terrible. We had struggled with food allergies since he was a baby, and looking back, I probably didn’t get enough protein into his diet during those crucial early years. He couldn’t tolerate dairy, shrimp, or most nuts. Even eggs—one of the few proteins he could eat—had to be cut out for several months when he started reacting to them too.

From last September to February, he was basically on a restricted diet. His weight stayed okay, but he didn’t gain a single centimeter in height. He went from being one of the taller kids in his preschool class to the one always at the end of the line.

I assumed he was just a late bloomer—his dad was short as a kid too—but a routine checkup changed everything. The doctor pointed out his IGF-1 levels were low (that's a key hormone for growth), and told us that height isn’t something you can “wait and see” forever. Nutrition and timing both matter. That’s when I started to really worry.

We considered growth hormone injections, but the cost, the daily shots, and the long-term commitment didn’t feel right for us—especially since Liam is still so young and sensitive. We wanted a safer, less invasive route.

So we started looking into alternatives and came across iKids-Growth. I was skeptical at first—there are so many products out there that promise results but don’t deliver, or worse, trigger allergic reactions. We had already tried a couple that either didn’t work or caused hives. But this one felt different. It had research backing and real customer support. I spoke to one of their growth specialists (not just a chatbot!), and they helped us understand how to safely integrate it into Liam’s routine.

We started in early March. Within the first month, Brian grew a full centimeter. By June, he had grown 3.5 cm—and best of all, no allergy issues at all. We also gradually reintroduced more protein into his diet through safe sources like tofu, quinoa, and hypoallergenic formulas, which he finally started tolerating.

⬆Checking Liam's progress by the height marks

Now, a few months in, he’s gone from the 4th to over the 11th percentile. That may not sound huge, but for us, it’s everything. He’s no longer the smallest kid at pickup time. He’s feeling more confident and keeps asking, “Am I taller today?”

We committed to the full program—daily supplements, bedtime stretches (shoutout to TikTok tutorials), more protein from allergy-safe foods, consistent sleep, and even fun cardio like dance and ball games.

With a kid like Liam, growth is a long game. But thanks to iKids-Growth, better nutrition, and regular check-ins with their growth team, we finally feel like we’re not just waiting and hoping. We’re actively helping him grow—stronger, healthier, and yes, taller.
